African American Hair Products

Loading... As African Americans, it is important that we use African American hair products that will promote healthy hair. It is important to give black hair extra attention because we usually do so many potentially damaging things to our hair. Even if we wear weaves, or use clip in extensions, it is still important that we care for our real hair. In addition, extensions and weaves should be treated with the same care as our natural hair. The better you treat your hair, the better it will look. While all African American hair is different, most need African Americans hair products that promote moisture. If you take pasta out of the box and bend it, the pasta will snap into many pieces. However, if you boil pasta in water and then try to bend it, it will bend and not break. The same thing can be said for hair. When hair is properly moisturized, it will bend and not break as easily, but if it's dry and brittle, it will break under just a little bit of pressure. When your hair isn't constantly breaking, it will be much easier to grow it to your desired length. While it is not not necessary to use a heavy grease, it is a good idea to use a light oil on the scalp 1-2 times a week. Having a properly moisturized scalp is like placing flowers in a vase full of water. If your scalp has enough moisture, your hair will be able to drink from it whenever it needs a little more moisture. This will give your hair a fighting chance and prevent breakage. When your hair is properly moisturized, you will notice that it is easier to curl and that it will hold color better than it does when it's dry. In addition to oiling your scalp, try to get into the habit of applying an oil treatment to your hair about once a week. If you leave the oil on for about 30 minutes to half an hour, you will notice that your hair will be softer and healthier looking when you rinse out the oil.
If you regularly relax, curl, flat iron, or color your hair, a heat protectant should be a part of your regular African American hair product regimen. To prevent your hair from being weighed down with lots of oily products, try to find a heat protectant spray that will protect your hair from harsh styling tools, while keeping it light and bouncy. You don't want an oil spray because that will only make your hair appear overly oily. There are also some shampoos and conditioners that are specially formulated for African American hair. These African American hair products usually have extra ingredients that help to combat the effects of coloring, relaxing and heat styling. Remember that the ends of your hair are the oldest, and just like aging skin, it is crucial to give the ends extra care. When you apply any type of conditioner or oil you apply to your hair, give the ends of your hair just a little bit extra. You will be surprised how quickly your hair soaks up the moisture and you will notice how they start to look healthier. Be gentle with your hair, and don't pull it and tug on it. Because hair is more tangled when it is wet, use a lightweight detangler after shampooing. And when you comb your hair out, start from the bottom and work your way to the roots; this will help prevent extra breakage. Just because you are growing your hair, don't skip getting it trimmed. Regularly having your hair trimmed will promote healthier hair because it will keep prevent split ends from traveling up your hair and causing more damage. However if you keep your hair properly moisturized and use good quality African American hair products on a regular basis, it will help to prevent split ends in the future. WE RECOMMEND:
